Years 11 and 12 periods not timetabled with a teacher (study periods) will be expected to be spent in private study/research. Students are encouraged to use the facilities of the Study Hall or the Library. It is important that this time be used properly and that students refrain from socializing, talking, eating, drinking and listening to music. However if a student has a study period at the beginning of the day or the end of the day, they are allowed to arrive to school in time for their first timetabled lesson or to depart early once their timetabled lessons have finished. Students will be expected to be present in school for all their timetabled lessons.

Senior College Evening Study Centre

The Senior College Evening Study Centre programme provides a supervised homework and study environment for students (Years 10-12) with the assistance of tutors in the main subject areas. Tutors are carefully selected current university students familiar with the secondary school syllabus and competent in a range of school subjects. Student progress is monitored and students are assisted by tutors as required and requested. The program is supervised by a St Andrew’s teacher.

Many of our top-achieving students have attributed a large part of their success to their participation in the program. The program operates Mondays to Thursdays during terms 1,2 and 3 and subject to demand in Term 4. (Mondays: 4.30-7.30pm and Tuesdays – Thursdays: 3.30-6.30pm)

During a 15 minute refreshment break halfway through a session students are provided with a fresh sandwich, fresh fruit, fruit juice and a snack bar. This is included in the cost of the program. Students are encouraged to have something to eat and drink after the school day and before the program commences.

Students need to be enrolled for each term as many make changes to their selected nights. Application information is sent to all parents towards the end each term for the next term.

The cost of the program is charged to the parents' school account.
