HEART

  • A heart that is compassionate and forgiving

All relationships should be marked by courtesy, kindness and understanding. Poor decision making can lead to a breakdown in relationships. Through Christ’s example of grace and reconciliation, forgiveness and renewal can occur. Positive relationship values are taught, modelled and encouraged to develop empathy, tolerance and care towards each other.

  • A heart that is faithful and respectful

The School publicly celebrates Christian faith, truth and values and embeds them into everyday life. We are thankful to God for the opportunities He provides at our School. We encourage and foster respect for Christian worldviews and how they interact with other worldviews. Students develop commitment, responsibility, thankfulness and respect for others through a range of cocurricular, pastoral and academic programmes.

  • A heart enriched by relationships and service

The School is an inclusive community which places a high priority on democratic and cooperative relationships both within and outside the School. We model and encourage servant hearted leadership. We promote and provide opportunities for acts of service. We are thankful for and generous with what God has given us.

MIND

  • A mind that is engaged and persistent

Learning at St Andrew’s is significant, challenging, future-focussed, and collaborative. The development of skills and interests comes with dedication and hard work. This creates a growth mindset which instils a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.

  • A mind that is discerning and reflective

We need to be discerning and reflective in a world with instant access to enormous amounts of information. We select, use and represent information ethically and responsibly. We prayerfully strive to be wise, to “examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

  • A mind that is inquiring and creative

We are endowed by God with the capacity to inquire into and explore His creation. God also endows us with the imagination to use knowledge creatively, to invent things, to devise ways of caring for the world, and to promote human wellbeing.Our teaching is conducted in a culture of critical inquiry, where learning is made relevant through questioning, investigation and application. The School's city location and global focus allow for inquiry into the world and inspiration for creative pursuits.

LIFE

  • A life filled with courage

Through academic, pastoral and cocurricular pursuits we are encouraged to act bravely for the betterment of ourselves and others. We aspire to be courageous in all situations - the courage to lead and to follow, to question and to answer, to make decisions, to take risks, to stand up for truth and justice, to explore, to change, to pursue, to excel, to accept, to listen, to forgive, and to inspire.

  • A life that embraces challenges and change

Students and staff are equipped to thrive in an ever changing world through international best practice, high quality teaching, resourcing, support and opportunities. We are inspired by our School motto: ‘Via Crucis, Via Lucis’ (the way of the cross is the way of light). We see challenge and change as an opportunity for growth. We persevere, knowing that we are loved by God as shown through Jesus’ own struggle and sacrifice for us.

  • A life of hope and purpose

Students are equipped with a knowledge of Jesus’ sacrifice for us and an understanding that they are known and loved by God and can find hope and purpose in Him. Students' skills and attributes are challenged, nurtured and developed through Christian shaped, high quality education to become confident, lifelong learners in order to make a positive difference in the world.
